Regarded as one of the industry’s sough after international competitions, Perdeberg Wines added to its growing list of accolades when the winners at this year’s Mundus Vini Summer Tasting were recently announced. The Paardeberg-based producer scooped no less than four Gold medals. Gold is awarded to wines scoring a rating of over 90 points in the 100-point judging system.
The medals were awarded to the following wines in The Dry Land Collection:
Courageous Old Vine Barrel Fermented Chenin Blanc 2021
Joseph’s Legacy 2020
Longevity Natural Sweet Chenin Blanc 2018
The Dry Land Collection is made from grapes cultivated in vineyards that receive little to no irrigation, also known as ‘dryland’ vineyards. These wines showcase the uniqueness of grapes grown in this terroir using age-old traditions. The range appeals to enthusiasts who understand and appreciate natural winemaking processes, and who enjoy sharing these expressions with others at elegant dinners and special occasions. The Dry Land Collection boasts well-balanced wines with complexity and concentration, but also generous drinkability.
Not too far behind were two wines from The Vineyard Collection – the Grenache Blanc 2022 and the Cinsault 2021 – which each scored 86 points. Although not Gold this score is a testament to Perdeberg’s drive and passion to produce stellar wines for everyday enjoyment.
The Mundus Vini Summer Tasting has held annually in Neustadt a der Weinstrasse, Germany. This year the competition attracted an impressive 4 185 entries, whereby these top wines were tasted and scored by more than 120 expert judges from all over the world.
