With 4 years of maturation (18 months in 500l barrels) the classic upfront aromas of perfumed rose petal, violet, pencil shavings, roasting herbs, and black and blue berries burst from the glass to reveal layers of earthy black currant wrapped in milk chocolate, graphite, soft vanilla and hints of savoury tobacco smoke. The palate is like liquid silk with well-balanced, ripe powdery tannins and a never-ending finish. Full-bodied and elegant in perfect harmony with length and depth. This is class in a glass and is only beginning to show its impressive potential. The fine tannin structure, fruit and acid integration bodes well for another 5 years of drinking pleasure. Longevity Natural Sweet Chenin Blanc 2018
Only the best hand-picked dried-on-the-vine grapes from an 18-year-old dryland vineyard were used for this sensational sweet wine. Showing the versatility of Chenin blanc and its incredible ageing potential, this wine was aged for 6-8 months in 500l barrels and a further four and a half years in the bottle.
Rich unctuous and luminous amber in colour, 2018 oozes enchanting spiced marmalade, whipped honey, barley sugar, exotic ripe mango and sun-dried apricot aromas. Seductive notes of candied orange peel, preserved ginger, quince and crème brulee flavours unfold in the mouth, giving way to balancing acidity and a warm vanilla lick. The finish is mouth-coating, dense, complex and unflagging with a cleansing mineral, bitter orange farewell – a real triumph of balance, elegance, opulence and precision.
