The 32nd annual Veritas Awards were announced at a star-studded industry event on 7 October, which saw Perdeberg Wines scoop Double Gold for The Vineyard Collection Grenache Noir 2021. Hot on the heels was The Vineyard Collection Chenin Blanc 2022, The Dry Land Collection Fortitude Fortified Chenin Blanc 2021 and The Dry Land Collection Longevity Natural Sweet Chenin Blanc 2018, each to be awarded Gold.
A new addition to The Vineyard Collection, the Grenache Noir 2021 is sourced from eight-year-old dryland vineyards in the coastal region. Made in an elegant and new-world style, The Vineyard Collection Grenache Noir 2021 is suitable to enjoy on any social occasion. From the outset, the wine exudes elegance and sophistication with its new eye-catching label. Dark red in colour, the wine boasts aromas of red berries, cherries and spices – fresh and vibrant with a smooth palate.
“We couldn’t be happier with these awards, in particular receiving them on our dryland-focused premium and ultra-premium wines, which are suited to the wine enthusiast looking for that unique offering. These wines showcase Perdeberg’s diversity and confirm its reputation as the Home of Chenin Blanc™ perfectly,” says Cellar Master Albertus Louw.
This year a total of 103 Double Gold and 136 Gold medals were handed out. 1 312 entries were received, which were judged by an authoritative panel of 70 local specialists during a five-day blind tasting session.
