Not only did Perdeberg’s Dry Land Collection red blend, Joseph’s Legacy, get voted into the top ten at the Paarl Wine Challenge 2014, but the winery also scored a massive win above all other Paarl white wines entered to win the Best White Wine Trophy at the show with its Popular Range Sauvignon Blanc. All white wines, regardless of level, were submitted to the Paarl Wine Challenge which makes this win something to be incredibly proud of.
Perdeberg’s Sauvignon Blanc, from the winery’s main range, is a consistently excellent wine that is true to the cultivar’s character and balances drinkability with a finesse that is rare in this price range. It has a tropical nose with freshly cut grass, asparagus and hints of bell pepper and gives the palate a fresh, crisp acidity.
Perdeberg’s Dry Land Collection wines were launched a year ago and are available in the on trade and ex-cellar. As the winery’s premium wine range, they benefit from nature, relying upon a combination of rainfall and cool sea breezes from both the Indian and Atlantic oceans, which act as an effective antidote to the scorching sun, keeping the ripening grapes at the optimal temperature required to produce great wines. Joseph’s Legacy is the premium red blend in the range and is winning more and more loyal fans.
